Name: Sree Varshini R Title: The Ballad of World Picnic Day Genre: Epic Poem

In the heart of summer’s golden blaze, When days are long and skies ablaze, There comes a time of joy and play, Behold, it’s World Picnic Day.

Beneath the canopy of blue, With clouds like ships that sail through, A call to gather far and near, To celebrate with wholesome cheer.

On grassy plains and forest glades, In city parks and mountain shades, The people come with baskets full, Of laughter, love, and joy to pull.

From dawn till dusk the air is sweet, With scent of fruits and grills' heat, Blankets spread on earth’s soft breast, For families, friends, and all the rest.

Children run with kites in hand, Their laughter like an angel band, Parents watch with loving eyes, As dreams take flight into the skies.

Oh, the feasts laid out with care, Of sandwiches and salads rare, Cold lemonade and pies so fine, Berries plucked from nature’s vine.

Songs are sung and stories told, Memories like treasures gold, Shared beneath the whispering trees, Caressed by the gentle breeze.

A game of ball, a race of feet, Barefoot dancing to a beat, Faces glowing in the light, Hearts as carefree as a kite.

As evening falls with shadows deep, And stars awake from their sleep, The fireflies join the masquerade, In a twilight serenade.

Candles flicker, soft and low, Casting warmth with gentle glow, Voices hushed to murmured grace, A thankful prayer in every face.

For in this day of simple pleasure, Lies the world’s most precious treasure, A moment stolen from the rush, To feel life’s tender, loving hush.

And as the moon climbs high above, A silver witness to our love, We pack our things, yet hearts will stay, Forever marked by World Picnic Day.

So let us hold this day so dear, And every year, let’s gather here, To honor Earth and sky so wide, And share our joy with love and pride.

For in this day, so pure, so free, We find the true humanity, A world united in delight, Under the day, the stars, the night.

May every picnic spread our cheer, From every hill and valley here, Across the globe, both far and near, In hearts we hold this day so dear.

Thus ends the tale of joy and play, Long live the World Picnic Day.
